Went here for an early dinner. The girl that greeted us was very friendly. It's a place where you order at a counter and they bring your food out to you. She recommended the Chicken Pot Pie and it was a good recommendation on the cold weather. It was delicious and meal sized! Really enjoyed it. It came with a fresh and crisp garden salad. My wife had chicken fried steak and really liked that too. Not many places to eat out in this area but this place was very good. We'd go again.
If I could give negative stars I would..I called a week in advance to order a pie for my husband's birthday. It was a special order. A lemon supreme pie. Gentleman who took my order said " we don't have that pie but I can see if my Baker can make one. Give me your number and I'll call you back tomorrow IF WE CAN NOT DO IT. if I don't call come get it a noon on Monday!" Never heard from him, so thought all was well. Until today when I called to see if it was ready for pick up. The Baker said" she couldn't make that and wasn't sure why the guy said she could". So now it's my husband's birthday and the pie he thought he was getting isn't what he wanted or looking forward to!!! THANKS PERKINS! ***UPDATE** TALK TO THE MANAGER DONNY, AND HE WAS VERY APOLOGETIC AND SAID IT WAS HIS FAULT HE HAD DROPPED THE BALL AND MET TO CALL ME AND NEVER DID. HE GAVE ME A FEW BUCKS OFF OF A PIE WENT WITH A BANANA CREAM INSTEAD.
I do enjoy Perkins this one is clean the staff is friendly food is perfect. Unfortunately tonight they did not have Banana Cream pie I'm stuck with coconut cream pie.
In town for a soccer competition. Late at night and looking for a light supper. Unexpectedly found Perkins right besides our hotel. A little slow but nice service and like home made meals, we all tried and enjoy several dishes: turkey, chicken pot pie, meatloaf mmm... yumi. My daughter also liked her pie and shake. Prices are unbeatable.
Two words, Mammoth muffin! I seriously cannot get enough of Perkins baked goods and they always deliver especially when it comes to their muffins. My personal favorite is there pumpkin muffin, which can be seasonal and they do still have some right now so go and grab one if you can. We ate breakfast here a couple days ago. We were greeted right away and seated at a booth close to the doors. Our server came over after a little bit she did have a very large table, so it took her a little bit of time, but we could see what was going on so no big deal. We were ready with our order when she came over. I had the Mediterranean omelette and the hubs got a scramble. Food came out pretty quickly and everything was made as ordered. I highly recommend that you ask to get your muffin warmed up. We also did recently find out that you can ask them to put the muffin on the grill. Overall: A Solid breakfast place, with especially good pastries.
I read the previous poor reviews and almost went elsewhere but thought I would try it. I ordered the Mediterranean omelette and it was good but not hot, just warm at best. After finishing my breakfast I ordered 36 muffins to take to work. The service was good and overall a decent experience.
Everytime I pass through town I stop in here to get my Grandma a Lemon Meringue pie slice. She is 95 and loves a sweet tooth treat from me when I visit. She says the deserts here are always wonderful. I have had thier Banana cream pie which is also always tasty. So nice job Perkins to your early morning bakers. Even though its Perkins, us foodies see your hard work and appreciate you keeping the standards high regardless of a chain or a 5 star place! We will stop again for some sweet treats.
My husband and I came here for lunch yesterday. I KNEW it probably wasn't a good idea, but thought that surely it wouldn't be as bad as the last time I'd been to a different Perkins that has since closed. Well, it took our server 10 minutes to acknowledge our existence. We weren't the only table that experienced this - another table got the same treatment, so I think it's just how this server rolls. When she finally came up, there was no greeting, just a very awkward question asking if we wanted anything to drink. To which I wanted to say "yes, we do want a drink since that is a customary part of a meal.", but I didn't, I just gave my drink order. I ordered a side salad with my lunch. I'm eating low carb so no fries, rice, etc. for me. The salad comes out and the lettuce is turning red AND it's slimy. Ugh.... not gonna eat slimy lettuce and can't send it back just to get more nasty lettuce. Perkins should be ashamed for serving food like that. So, I won't be visiting this Perkins again anytime soon. :/
First time eating at Perkins and I must say, I wasn't very excited. But when MIL is treating and she picked the place, you go. "I'll buy you a nice dinner afterwards if you don't find something" hubs assured me as I walked in secretly eye rolling. In short, kids were happy, hubs was happy and MIL was happy. Kids meals offered plenty of food (standard kids meal fare...grilled cheese, Mac and cheese and a surprise of a Mickey Mouse shaped chocolate chip pancake plate my girl LOVED) and even a chocolate chip filled chewy cookie to go. I did appreciate the healthy side salad option which one daughter did go for! (Yay for good parenting!) Hubs is happy with egg on anything and his med-rare burger served with crispy shoe string fros was no different. MIL got down with a mix and match combo...tomato basil and grilled cheese. Classic and enough for her to take one leftovers. For a vegan, this place isn't ideal. Salads all contained meat and I get bitter about paying the same price for a salad asking for it without the chicken. I went for oatmeal and asked for it Sand mike and with fresh blueberries on top. It was fair. The side broccoli I stole from my daughter was delish. I was satisfied fine and was just happy about the consonant and conversation. I definitely would not head here again by choice. What seems to me to set this location apart was the small town friendly charm, the used books for sale for charity, and the handmade personalized necklaces which I loved! Oh, and the cow sculpture out front. Big pies to go which I'm guessing is standard at all locations. Perhaps pick one up if in a pinch. Ehh
I come here whenever my family visits from out of town. Might sound weird, but this is our go-to place for lunches and sometimes dinner. I love how each dish is quality food, no matter what you order. I love the tilapia dish, the turkey dinner, their mashed potatoes are awesome, and their pies are fantastic. My dad loves their chicken pot pie (even though it's something like 1,400 calories haha!) because it's made in-house and it tastes like it. The service is always good and they treat you like family. A good place to bring kiddos, too. Every so often they have a face-painter at one of the booths doing face-painting for free. It's a great casual diner with some super delish food. The only thing I didn't like were the green beans from the side menu. They were definitely canned green beans so....not great. BUT...their breakfast is THE BEST. Anything off the breakfast menu...and I think we've tried everything. Perfection. Their pancakes, french toast, waffles, eggs, hashbrowns, etc...all super amazing (and you can get breakfast anytime). Also, hot cocoa has free refills (as do their other drinks).
So I'm not sure if this was just an off night for them but Alexa not a very pleasant person or at least just seems like she doesn't like to help you. The service from the waitress was ok. But my drink was never filled and I was really hoping I could have more water but no one came around. By the time they did I was done and ready to go. The food did not have flavor and I was super excited to try their banana nut muffin but that too was lacking in flavor. It was not the worst meal I have ever had but it certainly not the best and unfortunately I won't be giving them another chance.
Slow service , she wasn't prepared to take our order. Some brown nasty lettuce in side Salad.
I should have known this was a bad idea when it took the hostess a full five minutes to figure out where and how to seat a party of six ahead of us when the restaurant was barely a quarter full. Then she totally overlooked my party to seat people who arrived after us. It happens. Our waitress came over and brought drinks out pretty quickly. It was the first and last part of our visit that was efficient. We waited over 45 minutes for mediocre food - overcooked burgers with the wrong toppings, cold fries, rock solid yolks on over easy eggs because they'd been under a heat lamp so long, and incorrect side dishes. No one came over to our table the entire time we were waiting for the food to offer an update or apology. No manager or supervisor type to be seen. Several tables got up and left, but we have young kids including a toddler and just tried to make the best of it. Another weird note - my husband's meal came with a muffin, and he was told that the only option was apple cinnamon and "possibly" a banana nut. When I took my daughter to the bathroom (which was gross) a few minutes later I noticed the bakery case was stocked with five or six different kinds of muffins. But, sure. I've worked in restaurants and know things get busy, people don't show up for work, etc. But, when you're in hospitality, part of your responsibility is to make those bumps in the road have as little impact on your customer as possible. A simple "our kitchen is running a bit behind today, but here is some of our homemade bread and butter while your waiting" would have gone a long way. If I had it to do all over again, I would spend my $40 on gas station hot dogs and fountain sodas before wasting an hour and a half here.
I was actually planning on a breakfast at Cracker Barrel but decided on giving Perkins a try. I hadn't been to a Perkins in awhile, last experience was less than expected. However, this Perkins, in Lakeville, MN was a pleasant surprise. Given, I was there at opening but coffee was great, Rebekah was awesome. I tried the scrumptious Mediterranean 3 egg Omelette, fresh fruit bowl and a banana nut muffin. The omelette was great. Spinach, Roasted tomatoes and feta cheese, with hollandaise. Fruit bowl consisted of cantaloupe, honey dew and grapes. It was good. Honey dew wasn't that ripe and included to much of the white area or Rhine, for my preference. Muffin was great, served first, warm with butter. I apologize for lack of pics. I was hangry.
I love the pancakes, but the Mediterranean omelet was terrible, so was the egg and spinach dish. Had it not been mothers day we'd have sent them back. Stick with the basics here. Like every other restaurant in Ashtabula County.....totally average.
Basically an iHop!
If you're taking over 6 people, gratuity is added for you!! I made this mistake in thinking it was just super expensive. :P
The Southern Fried Chicken Biscuit Platter is AWESOME!
