Cozy neighborhood hang out. The owner is very nice, he treats my family and friends like family.
the food is good and very polite staff
Picked up lunch, basic combo, cheese enchiladas, tamale combo. No chips no drinks, $41. Food mediocre.
Waited for one hour (!) to get food / server apologized saying there was a large party ahead of us. Wouldn’t it be nice to tell people this when you arrive? Food was awful, absolutely no flavor - even the chips were bad! Only good thing to say about this place is my margarita was good. Needless to say, we will NOT be back!!!
Great food, drinks and service. Family owned and operated makes this restaurant stand out. The owner and his family are very attentive to their customers needs.
I give this place A NO STAR rating!! It is terrible! Steak was like beef jerky soaked in soy sauce when my husband ordered it rare with a choice of soup or salad and corn or flour tortillas. He had soup with corn tortillas and an extra order of flour tortillas. He never recieved his soup or any tortillas. My son had a simple chicken enchilada with rice and beans he ordered red sauce but got green sauce. I ordered 1 shreded beef taco and I got a ground beef taco... Really how do u mess up on all 3 orders? So my husband tells the waitress his steak is more than well done she looks at it and goes to tell the cook comes back and says the cook doesn't believe me can I get your steak she takes the steak we say we don't want another one at that point. I dont like ground beef that's why I ordered shreded beef and my son who ordered a enchilada with red sauce got one with green sauce... He ate it anyways. At this point we are just ready to leave . Waiting over 20 min more the owner comes out and asks what is your interpretation of a med rare steak just barely flip it or what? I say we asked for it to be as rare as possible . He says well your plate was $25 we say well we don't want another one (the waitress said the cook didn't believe us) I don't want no special sauce. The owner says well I will see what I can do. Comes back and says your bull was $92 so I will charge you $82...SERIOUSLY? we had 3 cocktails before dinner (between the 2 of us that's 6) I didn't eat anything on my plate my husband ate a couple bites!!! OUR. SERVER WAS FANTASTIC BUT OWNER HAD VERY HORRIBLE MANNERISMS AND POOR CUSTIMER SERVICE! $10 off when all 3 meals were wrong, cook and owner argumentive ! 1ST AND LAST TIME THERE ! I would never recommend this place to anyone!
Restaurants Nice on the inside, the staff is super friendly, they have a fully stocked bar in the back as well. Since I no longer eating grains, limited carbohydrates, or sugar I asked them what was in the chicken soup once I found out I could not eat the carrots or the potatoes so they made it with chayote and avocado onions cilantro and cabbage I wanted chicken thighs and that's what I got the soup was excellent! I'll be back!
So far so good The beer is delicious. Chips are pretty good, 1 was stale but the rest taste great just not as hot and fresh as they could be... The salsa has decent flavor but it could be spicier. The service leaves a lot to be desired. But I've noticed that the more beer I drink, the less I mind. Hahaha Although I did have to ask for a beer refill from the owner And had to ask for refills on he chips and the salsa and I have three upset party members with empty drinks and it took 17 minutes before I had to stop the passing waitress in order to place an order. Having been a server myself once upon a time I allow a little leeway for servers in the weeds but when there are 2 servers left for only 4 tables in the restaurant, clearly they need some training on efficiency. If you only have 2 tables you should not be in the weeds, seriously try serving 8 tables at the same time. Ack we are out of chips again 45 minutes later dinner is served.... Cool I'm still hungry I think... I've eaten a ton of chips and drank a few beers by now so still happy Ok so I just finished eating the best shrimp tacos I have ever had by far. Wow what a punch of flavor and so delicious. I am impressed.
My fiance and I walked by this place and thought it was a taco shop as we got in realized it was a sit down restaraunt. Normally, I don't really like sit diwn mexican restaraunts because i prefer fhe taco shops but this one changed my mind. Upon getting seated we were offered with chips and salsa, loved. Got our drinks and food. I had the shrimp tacos. They asked me if I was sure that I wanted the crunchy tortilla because it would be small so they recommended to get the soft so I trusted them. Believe me twas good! I loved it! So come here and eat delicious mexican food! Good customer service, good in groups!
3 1/2 stars. The food was pretty good. Not like "oh my gosh I have to have this food everyday" good though. I ordered the chicken enchilada dinner. The enchiladas seemed small. Not a whole lot of meet. The sauce was good. My husband ordered 7 mares. He loved it. The chips and salsa were unlimited and pretty good. I would go back... Until I find a better Mexican restaurant.
Our go to place for mexican food on this side of town! Everything you need in a local mexican resturant with good drink specials, usually I get their Chile Colorado or just shrimp tacos with a beer. Their happy hour strawberry margaritas are good too.
Perhaps my favorite Mexican restaurant in Visalia. Love the albondigas (with onions and cilantro) and also a killer Chile Verde burrito mojado.

Try saying the name of this place five times fast...it's fun. ;) I came here while visiting a friend in Visalia, and we decided to go to La Palapa based on her friend's suggestion (her friend is Mexican, so we thought it ought to be pretty authentic). It's a pretty new place, so I'm not surprised I didn't see it on Yelp yet. It took us a little while to find, since it's pretty small, but it's located next to WinCo (to the left), and its sign is written in cursive script. It's open from 9 to 9 everyday and features a full bar with a happy hour Mon-Fri. This is the first sit-down Mexican restaurant I've really been to, so it was a new experience for me. The menu listed a wide variety of dishes, including breakfast dishes which are served all day (omelettes, breakfast burritos, etc). Homemade corn tortillas every Sat & Sun! The chips and salsa appetizer was so good we accidentally filled ourselves up on that before we even got our food. The salsa was not spicy, but it was fresh and good. Service was definitely a 5-star. Our waitress was really friendly and generous. She gave us our own pitcher of water since we were a pretty big group, and refilled our chips and even offered us a larger bowl of salsa, without us even asking. She frequently checked up on us to see if we needed anything. Our orders came out in relatively good time, on piping untouchably hot plates. I got a one-item special pork tamal (they had run out of beef tamales), which I thought was really good. It had a special red sauce on top that tasted good. The Mexcian rice and beans were pretty good too. My friends got filet pilapa (really good, they said 4 stars), enchiladas suizos? (about 3 stars), burrito mojado (not recommended, only about 1.5 stars), beef enchiladas (about 4 star), and a couple other ones I didn't get to take a picture of. One of my friends also got a chicken burrito a la carte, which looked simple and pretty good. One friend got an horchata. She said it had too much ice, but the flavor was good. The aftertaste was a little chalky though. They can do separate checks, and there is 18% gratuity on groups 8 or more. Overall, if I lived in Visalia, I'd come here again. You just have to know what to order, and try not to fill up on too much chips.
