Good beer options and warm nachos
We were looking for a place to eat lunch before the Pride Parade and unexpectedly found this wonderful place! Jim had three fish tacos and home made unsweetened iced tea. I had a chicken sandwich with fries and a beer. Both meals were delicious! The staff was very friendly, and helpful with recommendations, and didn't mind when we sat back and took our time.... It was a very relaxed atmosphere, with other couples, groups of friends and young families also eating there. The solid dark wood tables added a sense of the organic, versus plastic. Two large televisions, strategically placed, gave us a bird's eye view of the parade outside. There is a well-stocked bar with a clock which harkens back to an earlier age. The prices were very reasonable for the area. The staff was very kind to allow several parade-goers off the street to use their restrooms. The restrooms are single-use and are very well kept. Overall, we enjoyed our experience so much, and we were so comfortable, that we just wanted to sit there and continue watching the parade from there! We look forward to visiting again!
I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was! My family had a wonderful, delicious meal here. Great way to start off our NYC trip!
Cool place to meet a friend for a few beers after work or a nice weekend hangout spot. Kinda loud but that’s what you expect at a beer hall
Great bar for a causal date night or boys/girls night out. They have TVs so if you're into sports that works great! The waiters/waitresses really gave me a family/friend vibe. Made sure we didnt over order because the portions were big. They recommended different beers and food. Even gave us samples. It wasnt a busy Friday night so we got to sit anywhere but if you're a tall guy/girl or your significant others or friends are, some of the tables can be short for their knees. So aim to get there early for a high seat.Great spot!
Cool spot to grab a drink in Flatiron. After a valiant attempt, my friends and I did not "escape the room." So, we came to Flatiron Hall afterwards to numb the pain of defeat with alcohol. We ended up having a great time! We sat in the bar area, which was busy on a Saturday (12/02/17) night. Patrons were well dressed and enjoying themselves - this made for a nice atmosphere. There's a good amount of seating between the bar, high top tables in the center, and standard tables along the wall. We came for the beer so I can't speak about their food. They have their own beers on tap, and there's a solid selection. My favorites were the pumpkin ale and IPA. I'd recommend coming here for a drink. Seems like a good option for happy hour if you work nearby. I'll be back again!
I am a burger girl, and there are two problems I consistently encounter when I order a burger out; one the burger is rarely seasoned and usually a medium never comes out medium, but Flatiron Hall does not have that problem. The burgers are delicious and I have been known to order two days in a row. Other great things about flatiron, they have a extra large beer, I think it's a liter! They let you substitute bun for lettuce, and it is the most well wrapped lettuce burger I've eaten.
The fish tacos were A-OK. The service was other-worldly. And by other-worldy I mean not good. We waited for 40 minutes before anyone came and got our drink orders, then proceeded to wait another 30 minutes for our food order. On top of that the staff seemed really upset that we would repeatedly ask them / remind them that "hey" we wanted to be served! Annoying. Anyways - a cool place to hang out and chill if you want, but wouldn't recommend going here if you care about your time.
I went to Flatiron Hall for a work happy hour this past Friday and have never had such a terrible experience with management/staff. After being seated in the basement for 4-5 hours and spending a significant amount of money on food and drink, my phone was gone from the table when I got back from the bathroom. My phone was gone along with all of the empty glasses cleared from the table. We immediately asked the servers and manager to help us find the phone as it was clearly stolen from the table. The manager specifically was rude and argumentative from the beginning seemingly covering for staff. Even after signing into find my iPhone on a friend's phone and showing that it was at the restaurant he said that he "did not believe the map." There were also security cameras that were facing the table that would have shown what happened. When first asked he said the footage was "too blurry" to tell then changed his story to be that they didn't have access to see the footage. Easy to say I will never return.
I met a friend for dinner and drinks at Flatiron Hall last night. She really likes it here so I went with it even though the Yelp reviews were kinda meh. I started with the Honey Porter when I got there, which was okay. Didn't impress me enough to try any of their other beers, so I switched to Jalapeño Margaritas. Those were delicious. For food, we split a bunch of different appetizers, including the Buffalo Fries (tasty but not amazing), Chicken Tikka Masala Wontons (filling and mint yogurt dipping sauce were good, but the wontons were soggy), and the Tuna Tacos (very good). We also ended up getting the Reuben Spring Rolls on round 2, and those might have been my favorite dish. I thought it was pretty overpriced for what you got, but that's the area. I'd stop in if I'm in the neighborhood but I won't be rushing back.
A big, beautiful space with a fantastic menu! I only tried the tater tots but they were all a girl could ever want in a fried potato snack. (Bacon, cheese and scallion.) Spacious with high ceilings and a rustic-meetsindusirial sort of feel. It was great to hang out there with a couple of girlfriends on a summer night. I had a red ale and liked it a lot. Service wasn't very friendly but it wasn't terrible.
No happy hour. A big zero in my book. The pastrami spring rolls were enjoyable, but they are out of a ziplock bag, for sure. LOUD , , , NOISY when the expense account crowd is there.
Nice set-up with downstairs and upstairs. Long tables for your large groups and some smaller ones set around for more intimacy. The golden orange beer was delicious and loved the tater tots!
Absolutely loved this place! It was my first time here last night and I can't believe I haven't been before! This will definitely be the new place for after work drinks and food. We all shared the pretzel, hummus platter, fish tacos and sliders. Everything tasted excellent. Great atmosphere too! Can't wait to go back!
super chill bar with good drinks. if you're looking for a fun and chill night out, this is the place to be. the potato chips and tater tots are a must get!
Love the old building! Such gorgeous character and style. I've eaten here twice and both times were excellent. The fries were on point, my hamburger was delicious and cooked perfectly, and my fish tacos were great! Prices are good to high but the food is great. Service wasn't the best I've had in NYC but was still good enough to make me happy without making a friend.
Went here for an engagement party. The place was super packed, but we were able to get a table for the whole group. The pretzel, Kobe sliders and buffalo fries are really good. The tater tots not so much. I only had the hard cider, but I loved the beer options. Prices weren't too bad either. I'll definitely be back.
Flatiron was not really much of an experience for me. I went there for a Tuesday after-work snack and drink with an old friend, and got there a little bit before 5. It was almost empty in there, which was great. The cocktails were great, but they were priced $14 a piece and Flatiron does NOT have a happy hour, which is disappointing. The food (we ordered the sesame wings, the Mac & cheese side dish, the wontons, and the spring rolls) were all pretty tasty, but they weren't memorable or spectacular. The service was quite good though, which could be because the place was nearly empty that day. It's a good place to go for a bite to eat and a drink- but our bill came out to about $90 per person- it DOES add up. It does seem a bit overpriced.
Came here for a work happy hour. We ordered the Pastrami Reuben Spring Rolls (which surprisingly were my favorite!), the Warm Giant Pretzel, and Homemade Potato Chips to share. All of them were quite good, and I'm interested in trying some of Flatiron's other offerings (specifically the Crispy Tater Tots, the Kobe Sliders and the Rib Eye Sandwich). Ambiance-wise, it's actually really pretty inside (intricate carvings and ceiling) so that was cool and unexpected. I definitely wouldn't mind hitting up Flatiron again.
My coworkers picked this spot for a promotion celebration (me) and farewell (other guy) happy hour. To makes things confusing, this place is conveniently located within walking distance at least two other bar/restaurants that also have the word Flatiron in their name. Check your address people! It's a huge bar with a lot of space. They have a main floor that was half-empty, we went to the very crowded beer hall-esque area downstairs. We managed to get a table for our group and the server made us put down a credit card to open a tab (more on that later). Granted it's a beer hall, but a bunch of us ordered Moscow Mules and were sadly disappointed that they came in glasses, rather than the standard copper mugs. It's a nitpicky thing, but look at this place! Does it not look like they should have those mugs? Oh well. We ordered a bunch of food as well...pastrami reuben spring rolls, kobe sliders, crispy tater tots, prosciutto toast, and wings (I think). The food was actually quite good, better than your average bar food. I liked the proscuitto toast the best. The gripe that we had with our server was that we told her several times not to charge the credit card on file because we wanted to settle the bill among the group. She chose to ignore us and charged the card anyway. This happened twice in fact, because we had to put down a different card after the first cardholder left early and needed to cash out. That was pretty annoying and left us having to settle up with people later.
